The Witness è stato il settimo gioco pubblicato dai pionieri della narrativa interattiva Infocom.Il giocatore è un detective che è stato convocato nell'ufficio di Cabeza Plana, in California, del signor Linder, un milionario. Linder teme che la sua vita sia in pericolo... e infatti, mentre siede nel suo ufficio con il giocatore, viene assassinato sotto i suoi occhi. Il giocatore deve quindi risolvere l'omicidio.
