PlayStation VR 2: Sony officially unveils its design

Without warning, Sony has just unveiled the official design of its next virtual reality headset: Namely the aptly named PlayStation VR 2. A design in line with the first?

After many rumors, the time has come to officially discover the PlayStation VR 2. Simple and with clean lines, it remains in line with the first model. There is no revolutionary change. It has a touch much closer to the PlayStation 5.

A very PlayStation 5 design

Weak information for the PlayStation VR 2 (price? Release date?)

At the moment there are many unanswered questions. The helmet should be released in 2022 but without any further details. The first model was 350 euros when it was released in 2016. With the various technical changes, such as a 4K HDR OLED screen and a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz, the price may rise a little.

Yujin Morisawa, Senior Art Director says of the helmet:

When I started working on the PlayStation VR2 headset design, one of the areas I wanted to focus on first was the idea of creating a vent in the headset to let air out, similar to the vents in the PS5 console that allow air circulation. Our engineers found this idea as a good way to allow ventilation and prevent the lens from fogging up while gamers are immersed in their VR games.
I worked on many concepts to achieve this, and in the final design you can see that there is a small gap between the top surface and the front surface of the bezel which contains the integrated ventilation. I'm really proud of the result and the positive feedback I've received so far. I hope our PlayStation fans will also agree, and I can't wait for them to try it out.
