World of Warcraft

Intent on settling the arid region of Durotar, Thrall's new Horde expanded its ranks, inviting the undead Forsaken to join orcs, tauren, and trolls. Meanwhile, dwarves, gnomes and the ancient night elves pledged their loyalties to a reinvigorated Alliance, guided by the human kingdom of Stormwind. After Stormwind's king, Varian Wrynn, mysteriously disappeared, Highlord Bolvar Fordragon served as Regent but his service was marred by the manipulations and mind control of the black dragon Onyxia, who ruled in disguise as a human noblewoman. As heroes investigated Onyxia's manipulations, ancient foes surfaced in lands throughout the world to menace Horde and Alliance alike.

Blizzard president wants to resurrect BlizzCon in 2023!

Fans will be happy!

After three challenging years, Blizzard appears to want to bring back BlizzCon as the studio's yearly event.
Blizzard president Mike Yberra made a brief mention to BlizzCon in a year-end message (source) describing plans for 2023.
The company has chosen a new event director, and it intends to announce its plans for the event early in the next year.

After a complex series of health issues and the particularly tumultuous circumstances surrounding the Activision Blizzard organization, it was believed that the incident had been forgotten.
BlizzCon appeared to be a thing of the past after it was abandoned in 2020 and 2021 and later changed into an online event (called BlizzConline), which was also abandoned in 2022.

Even while it is unclear how this upcoming event will be structured, the studio's ambition to update the experience is confirmed by the employment of a person in charge of its development.
BlizzCon might be back as a multi-day physical event, but there might also be an online version to make the project less complicated.

The Blizzard president added that Blizzard would officially communicate about BlizzCon in the upcoming months in addition to announcing this appointment.
Now let's hope the announcement won't just be another Mike Yberra tease.
