O Witness foi o sétimo jogo lançado pelos pioneiros da ficção interactiva Infocom.O personagem jogador é um detective que foi convocado para o escritório de Cabeza Plana, Califórnia, do Sr. Linder, um milionário. Linder teme que a sua vida esteja em perigo... e de facto, ao sentar-se no seu escritório com o jogador, é assassinado diante dos olhos do jogador. O jogador tem então de resolver o assassinato.
