Vicarious Visions, the studio behind Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk, is disappearing for good

It is an emblematic studio in the video game industry that is disappearing today. Indeed, Vicarious Visions is no more and leaves behind a certain void after having produced many successful titles.

In January 2021, Blizzard Entertainment announced its intention to absorb Vicarious Visions in the more or less near future. The American studio has distinguished itself in recent years with productions such as Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 . The firm also worked on the PC port of Destiny 2 and the Skylanders saga . But, after 28 years of existence, the hour of disappearance has arrived...

A great name is gone

It is via his Twitter account that Vicarious Visions formalized its absorption by Blizzard Entertainment. The studio will remain based in Albany (New York) and will now focus exclusively on games developed by Blizzard. The 200 or so employees will therefore keep their jobs… which is good news all the same.

Following this merger, the now former developers at Vicarious Visions will support Blizzard on extremely ambitious projects such as Overwatch 2 , Diablo IV and on a new survival game .
