Find out how to play the PvP Beta of the new Overwatch 2, for which we now know the start date. Unveiled during BlizzCon 2019 , Blizzard's FPS sequel took a long time to develop. However, we are getting closer and closer to a release with now the launch of a closed Beta by April.

Beta date for Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 should therefore experience a first closed Beta by the end of April 2022. This version should notably offer new heroes, new maps and new game modes. As a reminder, the title will have PvE game modes in addition to PvP present on the first opus.

Note that the exact launch date of the Beta phase has not yet been confirmed, nor the duration of the latter. However, we hope that Blizzard has planned to increase the number of players selected over time.

How to Participate in the OW 2 Beta

For the moment, the beginning of the Beta phase will be closed, this implies that only players invited and selected by Blizzard will be able to participate. Thus, to have a chance to participate, register on the following link: participate in Beta Overwatch 2 (Blizzard official link).

This will give you a chance to participate. As long as the Beta is not open, the number of places will be limited.

Overwatch 2 is indeed a sequel, a game apart.
OW 2 will always be a PvP game in teams of 5 .
All the heroes of the original game will be present in the sequel.
PvE modes with talents and levels to climb (“hero missions”) are at the heart of Overwatch 2.
All of your skins and collection will transfer from OW 1 to Overwatch 2 for free.

A release date for Overwatch 2?

The development of Overwatch 2 has had many problems, including manager changes. Thus, after being mentioned at the beginning of 2022, it would seem that the release date of the next OW 2 will not be before the second half of next year at least. Indeed, the Activision-Blizzard quarterly report communicated on a delayed release date for Overwatch 2. It is therefore possible that the game will not be released before the end of 2022.

While the next season of the Overwatch League was to be played on Overwatch 2, this new delay in the game's development could also hamper the plans for the esports league.

For the moment, we consider that Overwatch 2 should be released around the start of the 2022 school year (end of August/beginning of September).
