Resident Evil

Resident Evil was planned for a GameBoy Color adaptation in a project outsourced to British company HotGen Studios, Ltd. Intended for an Autumn 1999 release, it was repeatedly delayed due to programming issues, and ultimately cancelled in March 2000 in favour of M4, Ltd.'s alternate proposal for a new game made from the ground-up for the console, which became Resident Evil: Gaiden.

Resident Evil: How to enjoy the PS5 and Xbox Series upgrades?

At the beginning of March, Capcom announced on the sly via a simple tweet that several opuses of the Resident Evil saga were going to be optimised for the new generation consoles. And the Japanese publisher has recently provided more details on this subject.

This year, the remake of Resident Evil 2 and also Resident Evil 3 will be upgraded on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This will also be the case for the excellent Resident Evil VII. If no release date has been mentioned by Capcom for the moment, the Japanese firm has nevertheless taken the time to detail the modalities that will allow you to get these upgrades for free.

Raccoon City is waiting for us (again)

Remember that PS4/Xbox One saves of these three games can be transferred to the next-gen versions. This will also be the case for DLC purchased separately or included in Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition. In addition, players who own the physical edition of Resident Evil 2, 3 and/or 7 will be able to download their upgrade(s) at no extra cost. Please note that the disc must be placed in the console in order to play.

Of course, the digital editions will also be eligible for these free upgrades. Finally, if no physical version is planned for the moment, these three Resident Evil games will be available for purchase separately in digital form on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
