The Switch is selling like hot cakes and Nintendo is rolling on the gold coins

Be careful, we are going to talk big numbers! And if you are allergic to millions, billions and other more or less net profits, just know that Nintendo is not about to die!

This week, the Japanese manufacturer therefore shared its financial results for the period from April 1 , 2021 to March 31, 2022. Before discussing the number of Switchs sold, it should be noted that the Japanese company generated around 12.3 billion euros in turnover, for an operating profit of 4.3 billion euros and a net profit of 3.4 billion euros. This financial statement is slightly down on the previous year.

A console that touches the heights

As for the famous Switch, the manufacturer's hybrid machine sold 23.06 million units between April 2021 and March 2022. It therefore peaks at 107.65 million units sold worldwide. It widens the gap with the Wii (101.63 million) and comes dangerously close to the PS4 (116.6 million), yet launched almost three and a half years ago.

In terms of blockbuster games, Pokémon Legends Arceus peaked at 12.64 million copies sold, the fourth-best start to the series. Last year, almost 35 million games from the Pokémon saga found takers. With its 2.65 million sales, Kirby and the Forgotten World achieved the best start in the history of the franchise. Finally, Metroid Dread becomes the best-selling episode of the series, thanks to its 2.9 million units sold.

With its future big releases, such as Bayonetta 3 , the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild , Xenoblade Chronicles 3 or even Splatoon 3 , the Nintendo Switch should continue its good momentum.
