Valkyrie Elysium: The saga returns with an action-RPG revealed for PS5 and PS4

The Valkyrie saga is not new: it's even an institution since its first episode dates back to 1999. Last night, Sony presented the fifth game in the series, which will be called Valkyrie Elysium.

Valkyrie Profile , launched in 1999, was developed at the time by tri-Ace ( Star Ocean ) and published by Enix ( Dragon Quest ): as much to say that the project was in good hands and moreover, the reception was there. you since immediately imposing itself as an RPG classic. Several ports were born on other platforms (like the PSP, nostalgia when you hold us) but also several sequels: Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria on PS2 in 2006, then Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume on Nintendo DS in 2008. The latest installment is called Valkyrie Anatomia: The Origin , released in 2016 on Android and iOS.

Suffice to say that it's been a while since we had a component on home consoles: it will soon be done since last night's State of Play highlighted the fifth chapter of the saga, named Valkyrie Elyseium . This one is planned on PC, PS5 and PS4 and its very first trailer is available above.

As the series wants, the world of Valkyrie Elysium is directly inspired by Norse mythology: this time we will explore the end of humanity and its relationship with the Gods, following the adventures of a solitary valkyrie. This one will try to save the different kingdoms, on which Ragnarök will not be long in coming down.

Valkyrie Elysium will be offered in particular in the form of an action-RPG, with punchy gameplay and daunting enemies. As indicated by PlayStation Blog, the game will give pride of place to the artistic side: the historical composer of the franchise Motoi Sakuraba will be back to music while the artistic direction will be able to rely on a technique in 4K/60 images per second on PS5 .

Square-Enix has not yet delivered a precise release date, but we know that the game will arrive this year, in 2022, on PC, PS5 and PS4.
